I’ve had a little play with Video Spin today, it is a free slim down version of Pinnacle. Much easier to use than Windows Movie Maker, but less presentation tools, there is an option for upgrades. The interesting utility is the range of export formats, flash, Real Player, wmv, ipod and Sony psp. The last two formats might be particularly useful for student revision videos. The programme will even upload your video straight to sharing sites, such as You Tube.

Autumn TAL Newsletters.

I’ve now updated the teaching and learning newsletter page , as well as uploading our newsletters for the first and second part of the Autumn half-term. Autumn issue part.1 has been edited to remove the personal details of new staff. All documents are now PDF files.

Thank you for all those that have contributed, including our external colleagues.

We are happy at K.H.C.T.C. to have contributions from external colleagues that will inform our practice.

As part of my International study visit to Bangladesh, one of my targets was to produce an educational resource. This is now complete.

The resource is based on Cyclone Sidr and is aimed at Key Stage 3, it consists of six lessons and forms a complete case study.

The presentation I gave to staff tonight about part of my experiences in Bangladesh, the quality is poorer because I’ve had to save the slides as jpegs and reinsert them. Slideshare doesn’t seem to like complex presentations sometimes . Not much information as I wanted to speak from personal experience, but some interesting pictures showing school life in the country.

Schmap Internet travel maps

I’m becoming a bit of an amateur photographer, which just shows you how good digital cameras are, I received an email to say that one of my images, of the Sony Centre in Potsdamer Platz, has been used in the new Berlin Schmap travel map. The Berlin visit is a joint MFL-Humanities venture that takes place in Year 10.
