Slideshare is like a You Tube but for PowerPoint, it’s free and very easy to use.
You could use this for a number of reasons
As a resource bank, many educators, particularly Geographers and Historians are uploading their teaching presentations online, for students and other educators to use.
Upload presentations for students to use for revision or homework. These can also be easily embedded into the College website. Slideshare now comes with a download file feature.
For peer or public assessment, getting students to judge each others work.
These are my Slideshare files if you fancy having a look.
Liking these, Hat-tip GeoDave. This website provides you with the facility to make simple talking heads, how about introducing your learning objectives through a character. You can also download your talking heads in WMV (Windows Media Format), which can be incorporated into PowerPoint or Windows Movie Maker. You can make your own here.
New on the web is Teacher Tube. The idea is that teachers have a safe place to share practice and ideas, as well as direct students to resources without fear of inappropriate content.
The site runs just as YouTube, you can watch videos, embed them in Blogs, or upload your own. Many of the videos also have supporting materials. This is a developing resource at the moment, but there are some great presentations and some quirky tips.
